Helping Hands Ministry
This ministry is focused on helping our members who have unmet needs because of illness or otherwise unable to accomplish things that need to be done for their comfort and well being. To do all these important things, we need both finances and volunteers. Volunteers for Helping Hands can contact the church office at 901-465-2627 for more specific information.

An exciting new ministry has begun here at FUMC. It is the Prayer Ministry Team. Leading the PMT is Jeannie Day. Jeannie has experienced the power of God’s love through the prayers of others in their lives. One of their first goals is to network a prayer chain so that we can quickly activate a ministry of prayer across the congregation. Each Sunday School Class will have a representative who will link the class to the prayer chain. If you are not in a Sunday School Class but would like to be a part of the prayer chain, please call the church office and leave your name and phone number.
Prayer request cards are being printed which will be available in the back of the pews and at other locations. There will also be a ministry of writing notes to let people know they are being prayed for. If you would like to be a part of any of these ministries or have ideas you would like to share with the PMT, please call Jeanne Day at 465-8647 or you can also fill out an online Prayer Request.
The Chancel Choir of the First United Methodist Church is a vital part of the worship experience. We invite you to come and join us. We practice at 7:00 on Wednesday evening. If God has blessed you with the ability to sing, here is your opportunity to use that ability for His Glory and Praise. Contact Nancy Smith for further information. The care and love of knitting and crochet have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the shawl. When the shawl is completed it is offered a final ritual before it is sent along its way. The blessing is rippled from person-to-person with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, mothering God! If you are interested in participating in the ministry please contact Patsy Wallace at 901-465-2627
